Short Pump has become one of the Richmond area’s most active communities for aesthetics, and the clients we see from this area know exactly what they’re looking for: results that look natural, providers they can trust, and a practice that respects their time. Synergy Face + Body by Travis Shaw, MD delivers all three, with a team of highly trained nurse practitioners and physician assistants supervised by Dr. Travis Shaw, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon.

Whether you’re coming in for your first Botox appointment or you’ve been getting neuromodulators for years, our Short Pump-area clients receive personalized treatment plans built around their anatomy and goals, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

We’re proud to serve clients throughout Short Pump, Goochland, Henrico, and the broader West Richmond corridor.

What Our Clients Say

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve been going to Synergy for a couple of years for Botox, facials, and laser treatments. I love Whitney and Aliyah, who are so skilled and knowledgeable about the latest technology. After treatments, I still look/feel like me – but glowy and fresh! – and I trust their recommendations for skin care and treatments, as everything I have tried so far has been tailored to my specific goals. I love the team and highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had such a wonderful experience with Jessica. Jessica was incredibly thorough, took her time, and was so precise in her approach. The results are exactly what I hoped for: subtle, natural, and not overdone at all. She has the best bedside manner and made me feel completely comfortable throughout the entire process. I couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend Jessica to anyone considering Botox treatments.

Allison H.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Finding someone you can trust with your face is serious business. I’ve been seeing Adriane for filler for a couple of years and she gets me right every single time. Her chair always feels like a safe place to ask questions, provide feedback, and receive needles to the face. Her attention to detail is unmatched and she truly cares about achieving exactly the results I want.

The vibes of everyone I’ve encountered in the office are friendly and create a comfortable environment.

Local Neighborhood Insights

hort Pump has changed a lot over the past decade. What started as a stretch of big-box retail along Broad Street has grown into one of the Richmond area’s most established suburban communities, with a strong concentration of residents who are intentional about how they spend their time and money. Our clients from this area tend to be research-oriented. They’ve usually looked into providers before they call, and they choose Synergy because the credentials and the clinical approach hold up to scrutiny.

Our Richmond location on Stony Point Parkway is about 15 to 20 minutes away via I-64 or Route 288, depending on where in Short Pump you’re coming from. It’s a straightforward drive, and many clients combine it with a stop at Stony Point Fashion Park or dinner in the area before heading back west. The office is quiet, easy to find, and has parking right out front.

We look forward to welcoming you.

What to Expect at Your First Botox Appointment

A lot of first-time clients come in having done their research but still not knowing exactly what to expect in the room. Most first-time clients have done their research before they arrive, but still aren’t sure what to expect once they’re in the room.

Your appointment starts with a real conversation. Your injector will look at your facial anatomy, ask about your goals, and walk you through what’s actually achievable, including what Botox can and can’t do for what you’re describing. The treatment plan gets built here, including which areas to address, how many units make sense, and what results to expect at your follow-up. If something else would serve you better than Botox, your injector will say so.

The injections themselves take a few minutes. Most clients describe it as a brief pinch at each injection point, noticeable but not painful. There’s no numbing required and no downtime afterward.

Results don’t appear immediately, which surprises some people. You’ll start to see softening around three to five days out, but the full effect takes about two weeks to settle. Your injector will schedule a follow-up at that point to assess results and make any adjustments if needed. That two-week check-in is worth attending. It’s where your injector calibrates for future treatments based on how your muscles actually responded.

FAQs for Our Glen Allen Clients

Why do Short Pump clients choose Synergy over closer options?

A few reasons come up consistently: our injectors have deep experience and a real eye for natural results, and our practice is physician-supervised, which matters to clients who want confidence in their care. The 15 to 20 minute drive from Short Pump is genuinely manageable, and many of our clients build it into a lunch break or an afternoon out. Once they’ve been, most don’t feel the need to look elsewhere.

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Both are neurotoxins that relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, and both produce results that last roughly three to four months. Dysport has a slightly faster onset and spreads a bit more from the injection point, which can be an advantage in certain areas. Your injector will walk you through which option makes the most sense for your anatomy and treatment goals.

How much does Botox typically cost?

Botox is priced per unit, and the number of units varies depending on the treatment area and your muscle strength. A forehead and glabella treatment (the “11s”) typically uses 20 to 40 units. During your consultation, your injector will give you a clear estimate before anything is done. There are no surprise charges.

Is this a good time to start Botox if I haven’t had it before?

There’s no single “right” time, but starting earlier — when lines are still dynamic rather than etched in — tends to produce better long-term outcomes. Many first-time patients are surprised by how subtle and natural the results look. Our injectors are specifically trained to treat new patients conservatively and build from there.

How do I get to your Richmond office from Short Pump?

The most direct route from Short Pump is east on I-64 to the Powhite Parkway interchange, then south to Stony Point Parkway. The drive is about 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic. We have free on-site parking.

Is your Richmond location accepting new patients?

Yes, we’re actively welcoming new patients. You can request a consultation online or call our office to get started.
